About me

I'm a modern frame and tapestry weaver and life-long lover of colour. Woven by Eve is where I have fun with fibre and get these inspiring textures into people's homes in a sustainable way.

Only in the last few years I've learnt that I need to be creating. I need a way to make something with my hands. For Christmas 2020, my gift was a small frame loom and a fibre pack. Three years of weaving as a hobby and then Woven by Eve was created to share with the world!

Playing with different fibres brings me joy. It's creative and endless due to the infinite combinations of colours, textures, weaving techniques, shapes, sizes etc. As a perfectionist (it is both strength and weakness!) I love that I can undo here or there easily to experiment with the piece.

I love having woven wall hangings in my home as they bring texture and warmth to a room. It also brings a personal touch as all of my work is completely handmade and therefore unique because no two can be exactly the same.

My inspiration comes from the world around me that I love:  big views of landscapes, skies, the ocean, mountains, fibre, my faith in Jesus and some of my favourite places like the UK's National Parks and the Yorkshire coast near where I'm based in my studio in East Yorkshire.

Having studied and taught geography for most of my life, I know the importance of understanding how our Earth and its societies work and ensuring they are there in the future. Sustainability is always in mind. I make small collections and custom pieces so materials are not wasted; responsible consumption matters.

My suppliers are almost exclusively small businesses led by women in the UK. I only use packaging which is over 80% made from recycled materials and is 100% recyclable. I also choose to use fibres that are renewable in source (or if not they are recycled or repurposed from previous uses - such as a yarn stash that would otherwise be thrown away).
